About
I worked as senior art director in a number of leading advertising agencies, including CDP, AMV, WCRS,
and DMB&B, where I was Head of Art.
The accounts I worked on span categories as diverse as pet food, cancer research, paint, beer,
third world development, shoes, hamburgers, army officer recruitment, hotels, cars… to mention but a few.
I’ve won many industry awards including D+AD, Cannes, British Arrows, IPA Effectiveness Awards and
Creative Circle and appear in Campaign’s ‘Top 100’ Hall of Fame for my work on BMW.
Creative director at Big Green Door and worked across on all projects for clients including Unilever,
Mars Inc., Bacardi, PepsiCo, Lloyds TSB, Unipath, SabMiller, Mondeléz, Kraft, Electrolux and more.
My driving forces are creativity and clarity in communication. My energy, passion for design and great
instinct for what looks ‘right’, means brand concepts, packaging, infographics, design, ads and photography
will fit the brand I work for in a meaningful way.

A BIT MORE MORE DETAIL (IF YOU’RE INTERESTED)
My first art teacher was in Singapore.
An old Chinese man called Chen Wen Shi from mainland China.
He taught me to appreciate Eastern and Western art.
At 18, I came to study at art school in England.
Straight out of art school Paul Arden hired me.
Paul was fascinated by the innovative, the surprising, the new.
From Paul I learned to be daring.
After Paul I went to work for David Abbott.
First at French Gold Abbott, then at Abbott Mead Vickers.
From David I learned craft, style and attention to detail.
After AMV, I went to WCRS.
I was the first creative person Ron Collins hired, I stayed 10 years.
From Ron I learned that creativity is important in and for itself.
The start point for what we do is the idea, and all execution must serve that.
While at WCRS I also worked with Robin Wight.
From Robin I learned to thoroughly interrogate the product.
To find out absolutely everything about the subject we were working on.
To steep myself in it until I knew more than anyone.
After WCRS I went to work with Tony Brignull at CDP.
From Tony I learned we mustn’t let anybody talk us into doing a mediocre job, for any reason.
It’s better not to do the job at all, than to do a bad job.
And that’s what I learned from all these people:
Cultural fusion.
Visually daring.
Respect for the craft.
Ideas above all.
Tenacity.
Pride.
That’s a pretty impressive list of things to have learned.
But then I had the best teachers.
